Just to add to this, something I noticed a couple of years pre Brexit. Very little information on this subject and you have to dig very deep to find it.

The UK wanted to trade with the US primarily to process nuclear waste into a product for medical use. The UK is too small to do this apparently but the US is already producing the end product.

The EU wouldn't allow this. The EU doesn't trade widely with the US for various good reasons.

Enter Brexit. The huge ships that are to transport this toxic waste were already being built before the vote and have already begun trading.

I think Brexit happened for several reasons and here are two of what I believe are the top ones: To continue using nuclear power the UK needed to reprocess the waste and to change human rights laws so Britain can be more xenophobic.
