Right, but do you really know that the genetic mutations occurred as a result of the bombings? Genetic mutations are also natural aberrations. Could they not have simply asserted that those were due to the bombings? you know that you have been told due to studies that there were increases, so it seems a logical step. But will scientists lie? I'm not an anti-science loon, but the NIST 9/11 fable? Certainly in some situations you could have government agencies inventing false statistics.
Something that someone else suggested was that the radiation was actually due to dirty bombs being used. It's possible.
I really am just exploring other options. It seems like maybe it's a bit elementary, but that's kind of the point. How far does the rabbit hole go? As you said, what a lie it would be?
What actually made me think of this question was I was pondering the actual plausibility of anarchism. And it occurred to me that we really do need those in power. Because we have enemies with nukes. Ergo we need people on our team to wield the nukes. And as long as anyone is wielding nukes, well then... they're king of the hill, aren't they?
And that's when it struck me that so many other things we are told we need protection from are fake. Why not nukes?
If you really think about what MAD is, it's nuclear game theory. And if you actually think about game theory, and how it plays out in real life? Well then someone should have attempted to destroy all other nuclear powers by now. That's just human nature. Especially psychopathic human nature. And that's just assuming that all nuke-wielding entities are rational players.

And all of that is still assuming that a nuke would only be set off intentionally. If you really look into all the close calls that we've had with nukes, where there was a >50% chance that the nuke should have exploded, it'll literally keep you on the edge of your seat, gripped in fear, biting your nails.
Is it possible- or perhaps even plausible- that gripped in fear on the edge of your seat is right where they want you?
