Are trigger warnings and safe spaces real?

im going out on a limb here so if this is wrong ignore it. when i think of this and the oversensitive type of person that might be in favor of some of these ideas for trigger warnings or safe spaces, my conception isn't really one that's just negative. it's easy to put it in a purely bad light like they are inexperienced and emotionally vulnerable and infantile and act more like an eight year old than the eighteen year old they are supposed be, whose matured past the stage where any of this silly kid stuff would be appropriate.

but i will put it in another light. have you heard of those stereotypes of gifted kids that are like this. they dont call it being over insensitive but being overexcitable. if you found trigger warnings and safe spaces mental and bizarre you should see the list of overexcitiabiliites these kids could suffer from. in a way the gifted kids or even teenagers and adults are stereotyped to be more like children than mature beyond their years. they're the temperamental ones that can never be patient or sit still. indeed the connection between neotenous characteristics and advanced intellectual abilities is well documented. what im saying the type of college student to throw a tantrum and demand a safe space, although rather alien to a normal person, might be the type of student that gets admitted to these more selective colleges where this phenomenon has been highlighted.

they can not only score good on standardized tests and get by in the classroom, but they can throw themselves into campus activities with a bit more force. they can also be some of the weirder more dramatic people you would meet. of course not every person who supports trigger warnings is one of these, and plenty of other types of students might get mixed into the fold, but i think the one that fits the gifted stereotype could be a big element.

the reason they are like this is from being opposed to the core what they believe to be wrong or perverse. the people with views opposed to theirs are like the demons of the world coming to their school. no wonder they petition to stop the from coming. when the embodiment of evil arrives at yours school you dont sit patiently and listen. you spread a big warning to other students and create a safe space.

not everybody that succeeds at college and learnign fits the mold of the type of student that like debate or exchanging their views. that thinks having their viwws challenged is why you go to college. i would say this is an older outlook that predated the inclusion of so many women to collegse. this is really just one type of smart student and smart students come in a lot of variety. when colleges mostly admitted males you got a lot that fit this type. being rational and logical and fair minded and so on. there was some of the oversensitive types for sure, but not like today. today you could have a bigger war between the types.

to read the list of these overexcitiabilies probably sounds as mental and bizzare as the trigger
