Yes I know I already made a post on this subreddit about this matchup like 5 months ago but idc I love this MU.

Anyways;

Connections

• Ash and Herbert both have connections to H.P Lovecraft (Ash with the Necronomicon/Herbert is outright a character made by Lovecraft) who both face off against undead monsters in their franchise that only came about due to their careless actions (Ash and friends finding the Necronomicon/Herbert reviving the dead with his Re-Agent).
• Both have the direct connections with Lovecraft lore (Necronomicon is directly based on one of Lovecraft books/Re-Animator being loosely based on Lovecraft’s book, and Herbert did fight against the Cult of Cthulhu at one point in his comics).
• They star in a horror film trilogy that introduce them, show off their skills, and leaves their fate up to other source material to pick up. The first one is a much darker and horrific film than the rest being more of a black comedy than anything in the franchise, both films also feature a gratuitous rape scene. The second is a lot more comedy based and goes above and beyond to showcase their capabilities. The third one is completely all over the place and goes into some territory that is, for the lack of a better word, insane (Ash travels through time, fights off knights and even other versions of himself including Evil Ash and those mini Ash things./Herbert discovering a new kind of science that transfers consciousness between bodies leading to some weird things like Rat People). Both trilogies are known for their campy tones, impressive practical effects, and the charming power of their main star.
• Both have a co-worker who became their assistant throughout their journey in their respective franchise (Dan and Pablo, respectively) who lost their loved ones (Dan’s girlfriend/Pablo’s uncle) due to the involvement with protagonist and the undead monsters, but they still continued to work with them.

Contrasts

• Ash is a brutish, arrogant, but brave and caring hero while Herbert is calm, collected but insane, and an egotist who cares for nothing outside his experiments. Also what’s funny is that Ash is a ladies man while Herbert shows no interest in romance.
