Personally the way I see it: Dreams and lucid dreams are entirely in your own personal world, shut off from outside. I'm not entirely convinced that it is possible to have a true shared dream or anything like that (though it's certainly possible two people could have the same dream, and perceive it to be shared, for reasons of synchronicity).

Astral projection is a different kind of dream, one that happens in the mind of the collective. Shared experiences are possible. Access to information from the real world or the minds of others is possible etc.

As for whether you could visit the same places: Certainly, although be aware that if you just give someone a description of a location, there are going to be billions of similar locations all bearing that description. If you've projected before you'll know that even your room/house has many many parallel alternatives, and that the one you end up in during a projection is never set in stone.

So while you may reach the destination intended, it may not be the exact same version, and it would take much trial and error to find the same one.
