As far as I know neither Spain nor Italy had a curfew at night and they were badly hit with extremely high death rates. Most other European countries hardly had any restrictions on people going outside on their own/with their partners for a walk etc.

Also I am confused because back then people knew less about the virus - Germany's health minister just said this week that with current knowledge of the virus he would no longer close down shops and barbers, but still Australia goes down that route.

It might be justified, it might be disproportionate. But I just don't like that people are cheering for extreme cuts in personal freedoms for more security. That is a dangerous route.
