Authenticity and customer service based jobs

I always told myself working fast-food that I was serving society because everyone is hungry. It is sometimes difficult to disassociate that platitute with the fact that I was basically struggling to pay rent while the owner was building a exact duplicate of his home in another state so he wouldn't stumble around as much when he has drunk (like anytime). Or he'd be like "HEY EVERYONE IN THE BAR LOVE ME I'M BUYING EVERYONE A TRIPLE BACONATOR" and he calls over 20 minutes before close and my grill is all clean and pretty and then dude in drive thru orders 2 triple baconators and I'm like "ITS A GOOD THING I AM SERVING SOCIETY IN SOME WAY lol". Pretty sure that is how that went down. He was informed or something that wasn't appropriate so he only did it a couple more times. Had this deal where he figured some idiot like me who closed grill for 4 years would need tips and neglected explaining exactly why sanding the bottom of my spatula would change my life, but I figured if I murdered him in the shortening vats or something I'd be going away for a long time.
