Baldur's Gate 3 - does it live up to its grandparents?

From what I've seen/played game play wise it's a solid Divinity OS 1/2 sequel set in the Baldur's Gate setting and it is a fine game if you take it for it is a Larian game with Divinity OS mechanics then you will be fine, their studio is one of the few who actually care about gamers, that is why BG 3 has been cooking in Early Access for 4 years now.

As for original Baldur's Gate 1 and 2 from Bioware, well, not even Enhanced Editions quite capture the magic of the original Baldur's Gate games.

Especially the first one forcing the "new companions" with their silly rushed quests and totally unnecessary DLC SoD, which makes no difference to BG 2:SoA campaign and basically copy/pastes ToB,while serving as a filler.

By the end of any Baldur's Gate EE run it was more like an errand boy doing side quests for Neera/Rasaad/Hexxat, not a Bhaalspawn saving the Sword Coast from threats.

SoD DLC was basically running errands for peasants and don't you even dare say a bad thing to a peasant in SoD DLC or it's instant "How dare you filthy Bhaalspawn not fetch my slippers" -100 (social credit) rep points.

Considering all of the above I am actually glad that Larian is making Baldur's Gate 3 and not Beamdog, since Beamdog managed to screw up the original feel of the Baldur's Gate games a lot, especially with SoD and "new companions" who just fall out of the sky and force you to do fetch quests for them.
