Regarding this sub's reaction to Baludur's Gate III annoucement and the initial teases from game devs.

Reading the opinions here it looks like you just want to play BG2 with a different story - that's what mods are for.

That's such a misrepresentation of what people are saying.

First of all, I don't know where you're seeing all these extreme comments, most people have been very reasonable in saying they prefer one or the other without saying they will hate if the game doesn't have it.

Second, I'd say it's pretty freaking reasonable for people to want a sequel to build on the gameplay of its prequels, as opposed to play completely differently. They didn't call it Baldur's Gate: Something Else (aka a spinoff of sorts, like Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance), they called it Baldur's Gate 3.

As much as I'm okay with Turn-based (I like Divinity: Original Sin 2), changing from Real Time with Pause to Turn-based is changing the whole subgenre of the game.

It would be like having the next Call of Duty game be only a Battle Royale, as opposed to "regular Call of Duty + a Battle Royale spin-off". I'm sure Call of Duty fans who don't like Battle Royales would be pissed.

Basically, turn-based isn't "a modern take" or "an evolution" of the old BG system, it's a completely different thing and you're the one who's being intolerant here of people who like something different than you.

TL; DR: I'm excited for the game, but your post is terrible and the most negative thing I've read so far, despite your mentions of all these supposed angry people.
