A bank made a dying man go in and sign documents to allow his wife to take money out of the account the pair had been utilizing together.

That is ridiculous! I had a similar experience when my dad was terminally ill and completely bedbound. I went into a business we had an account at, and even though I was on the account and had my ID and had previously used the account they refused because I wasn't the primary holder. They demanded I bring him in or I could not do anything with it because they just couldn't be sure I was allowed. We couldn't even close it out without him being there and the manager told me how terrible I was for lying about my dad that way.... he passed away not even a month later from his illness. When I hear about other people experiencing the same type of ignorant and classless treatment I really wonder how often it happens and no one says anything.
