Being A Non Native Speaking Female In The Force

Can't speak for all forces but I guess it depends on where you're joining. London is the most multicultural city in the world, having a few non native speakers on every team is quite common actually and come in handy all the time as translators. I personally think female officers are an incredibly valuable asset, very rarely do you need officers going in guns blazing, Hollywood style. You need people who can actually connect and communicate. Often the newer, younger, male officers tend to have the macho persona, trying to hide their inexperience and are keen to get out and 'fight crime', sometimes a bit too literally. But they quickly realise that that isn't what the job is about. You'll be absolutely fine, you have an extra few skills that most new officers coming in do not have, if you can give and take a bit of banter as well that is certainly a massive plus, regardless of gender or linguistic abilities. Best of luck!
