Being too intelligent might make you a less effective leader. According to a study by Switzerland’s University of Lausanne, having a very high IQ is not necessarily such a good thing when it comes to leadership – the brightest people are actually less effective leaders.

I feel this whole subject is ignoring a big subset of personality analysis. It mentions personality tests based on adaptation, understanding instructions, etc.

It ignores 1000s of variables that go into personality. There are individuals with high IQ who are introverted and those who are extroverted, those who are patient and those who are not. Those who are compassionate not compassionate. Friendly, not friendly.

Some of these traits...and 100s more...are either beneficial or harmful when it comes to leadership. And certain types of jobs require different types of leadership. Military leadership, where mistakes can be deadly, requires a different approach than creative leadership where mistakes may be encouraged.

To make a large judgment like this would require a substantial analysis of the personalities involved - at a pretty detailed level - in order to draw any kind of conclusion. It would also require accounting for variables with the people being led, the size of the team and account for varying complexities in hierarchy and how orders / information are being passed around.

This is seems entirely incomplete given the claim.
