Bernie Sanders is literally my only hope to ever get a college degree. Hillary Clinton's plan falls short. GET ON THE DAMN PHONES.

How about we don't put words into each other's mouths? Literally your whole rant is assuming this and guessing that.

Fine. Let's try it.

You didn't put in the work before, what makes any loan company think you're going to now?

Turns out, my FAFSA and PHEAA applications never asked about grades. Irrelevant.

How do I know that you'll finish college, when 50% of students don't finish? I'm not going to help pay for someone's college when they're likely not to do anything with it, especially when I've worked my ass off all through high school. My parents told me they wouldn't pay for my college, so I didn't just sit on my hands, I went out there and did a good job on tests and GPA.

Violation #1: I never suggested anybody should pay for somebody else's college. I'll play along and answer your question regardless though. You take their aid away when the don't perform.

Maybe you should go to a 2 year community college and prove that you can succeed at school (which we have no proof you can from what you've told me) and try applying for loans and grants after that. Maybe you'll be more successful then.

I like how you've accused me of putting words in your mouth, but then it turns out you haven't even read my words at all. If you had read my comments, you would know that I did go to a 2 year community college, I succeeded in it, and I am now nearing the completion of my 4 year degree, on my way to being plenty successful.

As for this grants bullshit, you act like there's actually enough grant money to go around to successful students and it's not just a giant lottery. My wife has been a flawless 4.0 student for the entirety of her K-12 and university education, yet despite constant grant applications, never managed to win one until her 7th semester of college, at which point she received a whopping $1K to help with her $40K of debt. Yup. I bet applying for grants really would have helped me, huh?

Also, think of it this way; if everyone got college for free, why should anyone work hard in high school, since it's all going to be the same price in college.

For the same reason they work hard now. To get into the university that they want. Regardless, as stated earlier, unless things are different in other states, your grades do not determine your aid offers. They only increase your chance in the grant lottery, ultimately still not helping the vast majority of well performing students.

Oh, wait a minute.... Violation #2!: Again, I never said everyone should get college for free anyway!

Would you maybe like to start reading my comments, instead of putting words in my mouth?

I doubt this behavior will change, so I'll just conclude by restating my initial point....

I was being offered $2000 a year in loans. A minimum wage job at 40 hours a week (way more than any student should be working if they intend to have time to keep their grades up) leaves me at under $15K a year before taxes. So with $17K total, I would have somehow had to pay for two semesters of university tuition, and a year of rent, bills, food, gas, etc. In other words, it was literally impossible for me to attend a 4 year school.... until I took advantage of a loophole and got married. The system is clearly broken. Period. I never claimed to know the solution. I only claimed that it is broken. It being impossible for me to attend a 4 year school without being married is evidence enough of that, in my opinion.
