big sad

the fact that they can reap billions in profits while we foot the bill and struggle is just ridiculous to me.

Again, you and I agree on that. That said, here's why I take issue with your approach: You still call yourself a socialist. Socialism is not inherently better, more efficient allocation of funds into the "greater good". It's more government control via higher taxes against the will & interests of people who don't want to be involved, and with someone else simply piloting the ship.

I firmly believe the fact things have gotten this far-fucked is because of too much government interference & involvement. To lobby for a more socialist framework is asking for more of what has been slowly fucking us already. Instead of the government digging their heels deeper into cronyism by bailing out failing airlines and cruise lines, let them fail. Let their assets depreciate so their value crashes right through the floor. Stop granting them more and more government benefits, assurance, and safety nets.

Furthermore, enforce the current laws to keep companies like Alphabet, Amazon, Boeing, et al from growing as large as they did, thus holding them to the constraints of their own mismanagement. Throw the book against monopolies at Alphabet and Amazon. The latter has a platform to compete with every fucking digital service on the internet, for fuck's sake.

Now, I've seen some good that certain government programs have done. To name two examples, WIC benefits for pregnant mothers in low-income families that allow them to obtain the healthy essentials for a good diet, and the Pell Grant to help people like get a foothold in the college scene (a la 2015). I've also seen government programs do more harm than good--social welfare systems that do not involve a system of balance such a drug checks, to name another example. Remember those plenty of fuck-ass jobs I mentioned earlier? More than one of them involved getting hired as a temp worker in assembly-line manufacturing plants and obsolete direct-junk-mail printing companies surrounded by minorities (predominantly black) who were openly racist against me and who were proud in proclaiming their insistence on working as few hours as possible in order to keep their gubmint handouts.

I do not believe the solution is more government involvement via more socialistic policies, programs, and/or taxation. I believe the solution is less government involvement and actual enforcement of the laws in place to prevent companies like the ones you initially mentioned from abusing loopholes and/or exploiting out current (broken) system.
