Bold Statement of The Day: Laura Lee from Khruangbin is this era’s Duck Dunn

Interesting discussion. The bassist who Laura Lee most reminds me of is Tina Weymouth from Talking Heads and the Tom Tom Club. The similarities are, first of all, that they are very groovy/pocket bassists, and secondly that, while not the official "frontperson" of the band, they are both charismatic presences on stage, and a big part of their bands' appeal. Two of my favorites and two of the greats! And I betcha Laura Lee owns a well-worn copy of "Remain In Light."

Duck Dunn I would put in a completely separate category, since he's not primarily associated with the "showbiz/performing" side of music (with a few exceptions, like Blues Brothers) and was a more versatile player, able to give great performances with all sorts of different artists, sometimes with short rehearsal.
