This is one of the largest military/political screw ups in the last decade. I like Biden, and think withdrawing is a reasonable options, but the implementation has been an outrageous failure.

There's no way exiting wasn't going to be a screw up though. If the only way to remove the spiked barb is to cause damage on the way out, then something tells me pulling it out impossible to do without causing more damage. Biden didn't personally install that barb, he also didn't twist it and spray it with hot trash and shit for 20 years. He removed it. And yeah, it caused some damage on the way out and that wound is going to take time to heal, but Biden is going to be seen as the guy with the balls to finally pull out that barb.
