Do you think that bringing back public executions would help deter crime?

Well, it's probably for the best you didn't go into law, then. You're poorly for the sort of analysis it requires, being as locked into your personal worldview as you are. Yes, you're very, very in touch with how you, personally, view the world, but it's unfortunate that you can't translate that kind of hyper-awareness into someone else's perspective. It's frustrating to watch, honestly. Not in any meaningful way, since I literally have zero personal stake in whether or not you ever get it. Intellectually, though, watching a smart person consistently miss the point for the same reason every time is exactly the same feeling you get staring for hours at one of those DVD screensavers and having it never, ever quite hit the corner perfectly. But whatever. You just shouldn't bother offering your opinion on legal questions if you're not willing to demonstrate the flexibility of thought necessary to meaningfully engage with them. It's a waste of everybody's time. You're basically just using it as an excuse to show off how differently you view the world, and, yes, we get it. Unfortunately, it functions as a blind spot in discussions like this, and keeps you from offering useful opinions.
