Can we get a current ATT customer to help those who are planning to switch for the Lumia 950/XL with the best plans/prices etc. ?

AT&T has three offerings.

  • All of AT&T's monthly offerings include unlimited voice and text.
  • Higher tiers (upper two for prepaid and over 10GB for postpaid) include unlimited voice and text to/from Mexico and Canada.
  • None of AT&T's plans require a phone purchase.

Cricket is their budget prepaid offering.

  • All plans include unlimited data at 128kbps; high-speed data is capped at 8mbps.
  • Cricket's middle and upper plans include unlimited international texting, as well as free voice, text, and data (up to half of your high-speed bucket) roaming in Mexico and Canada.
  • You can get discounts when you add lines to your account. First line you add is $10 off, second one is $20, third one is $30, and fourth one is $40.
  • You can also get a discount when you use auto-reload.
  • Cricket doesn't support tethering.
  • Generally speaking, Cricket is the best bang for your buck.

GoPhone is their mainline prepaid offering.

  • GoPhone's middle and upper monthly plans include unlimited data at 128kbps; high-speed data is capped at whatever the technical limitation of your connection is.
  • Those two plans also have Rollover Data, where your unused high-speed data will rollover for a one-month billing cycle.
  • Those two plans also have unlimited international texting.
  • The upper plan also includes free voice, text, and data (up to half of your high-speed bucket) roaming in Mexico and Canada.

Mobile Share Value is their postpaid offering.

  • MSV has data overages. No unlimited data at 2G speeds.
  • MSV is comprised of a data bucket rate and a per-device charge.
    • Smartphones are $40 each per month with a two-year contract.
    • Smartphones are $25 each per month without a two-year contract (Next, No Commitment, or BYOD) if the data bucket is less than 10GB.
    • Smartphones are $15 each per month without a two year contract (Next, No Commitment, or BYOD) if the data bucket is 10GB or greater.
  • Those two plans also have Rollover Data, where your unused high-speed data will rollover for a one-month billing cycle.
  • If your data bucket is under 10GB, buying on-contract is the better deal. If your data bucket is over 10GB, then avoiding contracts is the better deal.
