I don’t hate the PSL but I do agree that they are spotlight sponges. I’m sure different local chapters behave differently but I’ve been pretty uncomfortable with the way my local chapter has been engaging with the BLM movement in my area. Their interactions with other orgs have seemed dismissive at times, and they always seem to insist on being the “headliners” rather than taking a supportive backseat to local grassroots orgs.

None of this is necessarily egregious enough that I wouldn’t consider voting La Riva in November or attending PSL events in the future. But I’m a little less keen on joining as a full party member than I was before.
