Can I go up to any bank and say "I think this will grow" or "I think this will short"?

In my city. there are places that have "financial planning" or some other financial services.

you can walk into those places and request investing advice and they would be more than willing to help you figure out how to reach your financial goals.

my bank does offer a brokerage account. however my bank does put lots of limits on retail accounts because they do not liek their customers losing money.

so you would need millions of dollars before any bank would be willing to custom make a product for you. if not billions.

however i will say me having 10k+ in my bank theyare much more willig to great me with a smile and help me find banking products. but they only have connercial banking products "FDIC" products.

your looking for "SPIC"(IIRC) products which is more estate planning. financial planning. like edward jones / axia finacial / vanguard / amercan centurary / or some online broker. or some online discount broker.

heads up the more fees they charge the more likely they will offer some specific product. but the less likely you will acheive market returns. as your paying more fees.

but some people are very risk adverse and prefer less than market returns for less volatility.
