Canadian Expats, are you happy with the decision you took?

I moved to San Francisco 4 years ago. I love it here. It is close enough to Canada yet good weather year round, higher paying jobs, tech capital of the world, next to the ocean, and more optimistic.

For weather, its pretty damn good year round. It rarely rains, and no snow. I like this.

For jobs, they pay so much more. Stuff is way more expensive but it still turns out that you will save more here. I make 6 times more now than the other offer I got in Ottawa for a software engineer position. Maybe it would be 3 times more now. Its amazing how well engineers are paid here. Look at levels.fyi at the big FAANG's.

Its also way more accessible. I am pretty severely disabled, in a power wheelchair. I am pretty shocked when I find something is not accessible. This is not the case in Canada. God bless the ADA.

Healthcare is great here, if you have access to it. I got faster/better care here than I ever got in Canada.

SOO much tech. Slack, reddit, google are within 3 blocks of my condo. Its amazing how much tech is here.

I miss canada and my family. You should try out Europe, see how you like it.
