I'm sure that if it ever moves from a peaceful discussion to an armed movement again, the Canadian Government would not sit by and let it continue. Currently, however, it is not violent. For example, the Québécois movement became violent, and it was swiftly crushed by Trudeau Sr. For the last couple of decades, it has remained peaceful, and is being tolerated by our federal government. There is even a pro independent Quebec political party. The majority of Canadian Sikhs do not support an armed rebellion, hence Referendum2020. If the Canadian government censored peaceful political speech, it would violate our Constitution and Charter of Rights.
