Canadians of Reddit, what is life currently like in your country with the extreme covid measures unfolding?

Here in Ontario, the measures are fine and I’m all for it. I do find the measures a little too late and frustrated how many people are against it. People still break the rules and complain, meanwhile our ICUs are fucked. We are setting up field ICUs outside in tents because our capacity is bursting at the seams. Only 25% of the eligible population is vaccinated and that’s not horrible, but I do wish we did better.

All the other covid waves I didn’t know anyone personally who had covid. This third wave many people I know and some family have gotten it. Some don’t know from where they contracted it from, my grandparents from their PSW, others because they weren’t following the rules and not wearing masks while close with others, carpooling when not necessary etc.

I’m quite scared right now and hope this blows over soon and that people stop being idiots and also that people actually sign up to get vaccinated.

This whole situation has really made me lose hope in people and made me realize how many adults are idiots (I’m a young-ish adult myself).
