Can't sleep. What are your tips/tricks for beating insomnia?

Well, there are long term things you can do.

  • Get a fix sleep schedule, e.g. go to bed at 11pm and get up at 7am.

  • If you're in bed and can't sleep, don't stay in it longer than 15 minutes. Then get up and read a book until you're tired. Try to go back to sleep again.

  • Have a good sleep hygiene, meaning don't do anything in your bed but sleeping. Don't read, eat, game or do whatever else in it.

  • Don't sleep during the day. If you have to take a nap it shouldn't be longer than 20 minutes. Do some sports to stay awake.

You can't sleep right now? I'd probably get up, sit in a comfy chair and read for a bit. Maybe you'll be tired in 10 minutes?
