career path - medical claims adjustment / representative

  1. Insurance isnt going anywhere if thats what you mean. I can only speak from my experience with one of the major carriers in this field but claims reps/adjusters aren't paid a fair amount for their work IMO. You are constantly micromanaged and need to be quick.

My personal experience: hired in as a customer service agent taking member and provider calls. I think this is a great move if you can stand a shitty job for a few months. It gets you experience with the companys claims platforms and policies. From here moved on to be an appeals analyst reviewing claim denials. From here i moved on to be a claims analyst. I have been moving up in the same company for 10 years now. I apply put every few years for a higher paying role. Although i really love my job right now so i might stay put for awhile.
