Casting Director, using throwaway so I can be honest. Sometimes actors make me hate my job.

My marketing coach says that what separates actors who build solid careers and actors who don't is that the former is able to market themselves.

Would it be appropriate to reach out to CDs through email or DM and say: "Hi! I really love your work and I'm hoping to get on your radar as you've cast some of my favorite films and TV shows! Would it be cool if I added you to my monthly mailing list and sent you a newsletter of what I've been up in my life & career once per month? (I know you inbox is a pit of despair so please don't feel like you'd ever have to respond - thanks!)

Nothing demanding. Nothing entitled, hostile, aggressive, incessant or angry. Just a short, sweet, polite and courteous request.

And, of course, if they don't respond after one attempt then I'd let it go.

I'd love to hear your thoughts!
