A Challenge to Event Organizers: Put a camera on that mouse!

Perhaps before spouting off nonsense, you should look into what you claim to know so much about.

1) Is already done and is standard

Good, it's a start, however there are endless opportunities for players to have unwitnessed/uncontrolled access to the PC's, plenty of time to do anything they want with USB drives etc.

2) That prevents steam & vac from working and doesn't meaningfully change anything. If they don't have admin access they can't install anything anyway, and the internet is hardly required to transfer data.

Actually, no it doesn't. most big LAN events(majors etc) run via an offline version of steam to cache skins.
Who says anything about installing a program at all? what do you think these cheats are? a fucking auto-setup wizard from the 90's asking "do you wish to install 'wallhack.exe' to directory C:\Users\x\My Games?"

Oh boy i'm going to enjoy this next one.

3) This is just an idiotic boogie man. It's impossible to cheat this way.

mmhm are you sure about that?

Can your mouse run arbitrary software? Yes, of course, but only in the mouse itself not on the computer. The mouse receives no information from the game and has no ability to inject itself into the game. That's not how USB works. The mouse driver could do that, but if you only allow the signed vendor drivers you pretty much eliminate that possibility.

I... wat?

Either way, this is practically a null point given how far ahead private cheats are currently, as shown by the videos linked above. you literally do not even have to have anything connected or installed to the PC. Let's not forget, this is simply one of the cocky popular cheat coders as well, willing to show his work off, imagine how far ahead the real 'private' coders are, who would be selling cheats to pros, when there are literally millions of dollars on the line. There will be advancements made that we probably haven't even thought of yet.

4) Sure, but what that they don't already have or have prevented in some other way? It'd be suspicious, and obvious, as fuck if a player rebooted the PC into untrusted mode to load an unsigned kernel driver, after all. You can't exactly do that stealthily.

Are you implying there is no anti-cheat installed at events? I seriously hope you're not.
Either way, an anti-cheat in this scenario is going to be pointless. It's only going to be effective if you know what you are looking for. e.g It will search for signatures of X, Y and Z cheat. But if you're using Cheat A, or program B, it would not make a blind bit of difference.

5) Sure, just because why not? Throw some webcams back there, not like it's expensive.

Agree with you here, handcam's just to put peoples mind at rest would be fantastic, that or just having even a slightly off-angle birds eye view to see mice/keyboards.
