Yes it would. The other side, in this case, is whichever side does not have a child moving anywhere near it. Say there's a risk factor on this side and I'm keeping my eyes on it for about seven seconds because if I don't keep watch of it, it could cause trouble. Meanwhile, since I can only look in one direction, an unattended child, too small for me to notice them, runs in front of the car from the other direction.

Also, I don't know why you used quotes to say, "rub your eyes." It's as if you don't think that happens. Do you also think it's impossible for something to happen in that timespan? Do you think all scenarios of this sort take about 7 seconds to happen?
