Childfree Houses?

Currently, I'm renting - I thought about buying a house in my city to establish in-state residency, but based on how overinflated the real estate market is here, it'd be a poor decision, since I probably couldn't sell at the same value if/when the bubble here bursts. So apartment life it is! I'm renting a one-bedroom, one-bathroom, but my experience is probably different than the average grad-student-aged renter - I tend to live in... very nice places.

In the future, though, I do plan on building a custom home; if I were to do it today, I'd go with an ICF build, impact-resistant doors, bulletproof glass windows (go ahead and judge lol), and a custom multi-car garage. Bonus points for solar panels and sustainable building materials. As for the rest... I'd love a huge property, acreage-wise, preferably in a gated community, and surrounded by a tall privacy fence with security spikes on top. A big yard with aesthetically-pleasing xeriscaping or an artisan garden, depending on the climate, is a huge deal to me because I loooove me some fresh air and lots plants! - but want to be as environmentally-friendly as possible in my choices. Something like this might be nice - I find the Hamptons-style "large green yard with pool and shrubbery and lawn chairs and that's it" a bit... dull, personally.

I've seen the other side of the coin - my grandfather's family home overseas is large enough to require full staff for upkeep of the house and grounds. I've had maids in the past, myself, but it always made me feel kind of weird and uneasy to have strangers in my house cleaning up my "mess." I also find living in big houses kind of... impersonal-feeling? It's hard to describe, but to me it's almost lonely - I prefer a cozier space filled with lots of natural light. :)
