A Chinese Cheating Ring at UCLA Reveals an Industry Devoted to Helping International Students Scam Grades

can confirm--this is rampant.

First data point... I took the Manhattan gmat prep course about 5 years ago. A kid in the class was Chinese and he and I had multiple conversations. He and I had regular discussions and became buddies throughout the course.

After taking the exam he told me that he had seen every question. He was part of a Chinese group (forum board or something) that shared every question. He explained that the group gathered questions (and ultimately answers) by sending multiple people to take the exam daily.

Two things here to take away... 1) the exam is graded on a bell curve. Your grade is a percentage based on how well you do compared to other people. So pretty difficult to be in the 99th percentile if X% are gaurneteed a perfect score. and 2) the GMAT is IMO 1/3 of the package for getting into b-school.

2nd data point... when I was at b-school I witnessed what many others have already commented. Chinese students that spoke literally no English submitting plagiarized work and cheating on literally every exam.
