Christians have best sex ratio in India - Times of India

Hinduism can't get rid of even one ill from society because it promotes radical relativism in the name of pluralism. It took people like Ram Mohan Roy who were very well exposed to strict monotheism of Islam and Christianity and wanted to re-model hindu society on their principle to get rid of sati-system. Hinduism always remained ambiguous. Moral ambiguity between good and bad, theological ambiguity between God and Devils, gender ambiguity between male and female etc. Afraid of wrong answers and the effort it might take to reach an absolute answer hindus started celebrating this ambiguity as their 'superior' achievement.

The possibility that change may come doesn't mean that change will come. Hinduism with its radical relativism can never generate enough conviction even in their best of disciples to seek change and patience to see it to its final conclusion. Vices in hinduism die only to re-incarnate in new guises. Like sati-system died only to be reborn as fetus-killings. There is no sense of linear progression in hindu thought. There is no sense of finality. It's a cycle where every gain made in the process of change is expected to be lost somewhere and at sometime. Equipped with this cyclical mentality and burdened by metaphysical ambiguity hindu reformist readily yields to obstruction.

And, lastly hinduism (read 'hindu theology/philosophy') doesn't have the guts to address the elephant in the room that is caste system. Every thing that is said or done in hinduism is an elaborate way to protect the institution of caste-system. Whether it is origin stories of universe, doctrine of karma or reincarnation, or principle of purity. Every doctrine of hinduism strengthens each other in protecting caste system. Without caste-syatem there will be no hinduism or at least no need of it. Hindu thinkers know this fact very well. That's one of the reason hinduism is in post-doctrine world. There is no more a living philosophical tradition of hinduism because of it. There is sure a social movement within hinduism that has devoted itself to eradicate caste-system but it itself lacks ideological sword rooted in native-philosophy and whatever ideological backing it does have have been loaned from Christianity or ideas born in relation to christianity.

So called 'modern' hindu thinkers are then free riders who rides on the ideas and legacies that were created through blood and toils of westerners. They are second rate imitators whose excellence is gauged by the extent to which they can ape their western counterparts.
