You see when Clan Chest was going on we'd always have a 10/10 chest by Saturday, as our players ranged from arena 8 to Challenger III. The lower ranked and lesser skilled players would be able to contribute to the clans effort. Then Clan Wars came, while it was new and fun at first, the results weren't very good we'd always place dead last in every War.

Most didn't have high card levels (outside of their primary deck) so watching their matches it was a disaster as they'd be going into matches with very low level cards and with a lack of skill it was pretty much a guaranteed loss on War Day.

In-fighting and arguing about lost matches

Once the losses came in, it wasn't uncommon to see clan mates BM'ing their own clan mates and insulting them for performance during their matches and the lack of skill. Shortly after players who lost were immediately demoted (if elder) and kicked out of the clan post match. It didn't matter if you were a player who was active and always donated or were a long time member. Clan Wars became the prime focus and out you went if you were dragging the clan down.

I decided to leave my former clan because it wasn't worth being a toxic clan with dwindling members, I don't think that clan will ever recover from it.

While I enjoy Clan Wars, it's not really for the casual player and clans with a mix of competitive and causal will see big rift, it'd be great if a clan could opt out of clan wars but we know that won't happen.
