Clutching at straws

The fact that you linked your LinkedIn - this post could show up in searches pertaining to your name. Saying your hot shit is really off putting. I know you think it sounds cool but to older professionals (I'm only in my early 30s) you sound annoying.

But some helpful tips - your resume has likely been read and having hired people (I've worked as a global art director) you've still got a cv that smells of inexperience but hey - we've all been there. Furthermore that first position that we all got that gave us our breakthrough ... It took a long time to secure for most of us.

However since you're young and think calling yourself hot shit is normal - what do you look like when you google your name? People look outside of LinkedIn - I always checked out people's social media accounts - which is surprisingly easy and most people don't have on private. That is what stopped me from interviewing a lot of people. It's not that I don't think people don't party and have opinions that might not jive with the rest of society - they just don't voice it to the www. If I see someone acting immature online and not realising that social media is a tool to be used to their benefit if public - I generally don't want to work with that person. It might sound silly but with the amount of resumes one receives you need to narrow down the search somehow and that's a big one for me and for a lot of other people I know. It's not just education and experience anymore - everyone has it and is in competition with one another for it.

Look at yourself online and how it comes across - don't just use google either. And final tip - never say you're hot shit again - I shouldn't have to explain why but it's not funny/quirky/ironic.
