OP, you shouldn’t have had admin rights in the first place. Let me explain.

The account that you read email with and the account that you resolve problems for end users should not be the same. The account you use to help others should have admin privs, not your daily driver account.

This sounds more like poor communication because they bought a tool to get you the admin rights you need. They just didn’t tell you about it or train you.
