I really want to believe Erika. It’s hard to fathom one person being so evil and conniving in this situation, let alone both of them. But there’s something from the ABC doc that has been stuck in my head. I didn’t realize that Tom made most (all?) of his money from death and injury cases. A lawyer on the doc said it is just kind of gross to live the way they did when your money comes directly from other people’s pain and suffering.

Whether or not she knew that Tom was stealing it, she knew that it came from the worst moments in many other people’s lives. There are a lot of things she could have done with that money. She chose to spend it on glam and clothes and her ridiculous music career.

Even if she only knew exactly what she says she knew, that’s enough to make her a pretty terrible person in my mind. Personally, I think she didn’t know the specifics and went out of her way not to know. But I don’t think it matters that much. Either way, she knew enough that she shouldn’t have done the things she did.
