Do you consider yourself European?

For every Two and a Half Men there is a Curb Your Enthusiasm. For every IT Crowd, there is a Citizen Khan. I think your examples are bad. It's a hard question to answer because culturally is 'vague' and multi-faceted. In the US, some states more than others are very similar to us in terms of cultural heritage. You have to remember that every state is basically like it's own country because that's how different some are to each other. California is a strange one because, it's probably the most similar to us culturally, socially, politically and in terms of religion but it's also got very heavy Spanish colonial influences - place names and architecture for example. Walking around you'd think you were in the Mediterranean. In English literature, every american child is taught shakespeare and other influental english poets and novelists as the cornerstones of the subject. The Magna carta is central to their political philosophy. Their legal system is a basis of English law and its roots lie as an export of ours. Their constitution incorporates our common law principle. If you travel around America you will realise just how entrenched and widespread the British influence is over there. Many of their founding fathers were British (well all technically British), the cornerstone of their entire nation is based on British ideology. In terms or religion the Episcopalian church is an extension of the Anglican church. Also I have noted more animosity towards Brits in France, Spain and Italy (Fluent in spanish, speak french and have worked in Spain) than in USA - Americans fall over themselves to fawn over us. We are without a doubt, the group of people they love the most.
