Same here, we've been together 8 years, two kids. Started planning about two months ago, getting married a week tomorrow. Registry office service with about 12 people present then borrowing my parents rather large back garden for a reception.

The way I explained it to my mother is like a kids birthday party with a wedding theme. I've already booked a bouncy castle for the kids, bring some booze, ordered pulled pork and have a buffet spread. None of that formal stuff, I want a fun relaxing day.
