Cross posting this here in the hopes it gets picked up by the Stuff intern that browses this sub, lol. I’ve seen almost no media coverage of this.

auckland university are constantly building new buildings. millions gets sunk into pointless buildings when i think everyone just wants cheaper on-campus food & good wifi. they refused to even spend $10 to courier my degree in the mail (covid). had to whine a few thousand times.

university just shouldn't be a business. there's a lot of things which make no sense.

for example, they rely on oversees students way too much just to 'stay afloat'. (eg chinese students, whom have the largest country on earth with all the universities to go with it, yet value UoA for some reason). then you see huge purchases like the vice chanellor's mansion etc.

they also spy on graduates online for the rest of their careers unless you read fine print & know how to opt-out.
