This turns out to be a PR piece praising Shanghai

I wonder if the author has a beef with China?

paternalist states like China, ethno-nationalist states like Israel China, authoritarian states like Russia and Turkey China, or the US China which guards its exceptionalism so closely.

I've never read any of Nick Land's work, so I can't comment as to whether the hate is deserved or not, but this article strikes me as a disjointed series of opprobrium-laden jabs. It seems like the chief criticism is "Land isn't sensitive enough to others," while giving me little to no information on what the actual disagreements are.

Can anybody here who's more familiar with Nick Land and/or this author fill me in as to what's even going on in this piece?
