Daily Purchase Advice Thread (2016-03-04)

Since my ancient speakers have finally given up on me, well not really but the ever slight fuzz has been getting on my nerves , I've became nothing more than a broken man and absolutely desperate and in full blown shock.

Craving and genuinely feeling sick without my fix, I somehow sporadically found myself at Best Buy, shaking and drying up like the well between legs of an old lady I jumped straight to where I thought the speakers would be at.

I asked one brothers that worked there and he suggested to cop a Sono Play 1. It's apparently good for small rooms and he said that it'd be an excellent choice, so I said "fuck it, shit looks like it's the new age of society, plus Rick Rubin seems like he's cool with it in the commercials, that nigga has that solid production game going" I also asked if he's damn sure that it'd fill the room up, he said Damnstraight it can!

....I fucked up, long story short, I can't fuck with the use of wifi on a dedicated app in order to sound off on the music! I enjoyed the clarity that I've gotten from the Sono but the bass is having me stroke a sad limp dick, I miss my sub woofer badly. Plus in a stroke of brilliant stupidity, I realize too late that a single unit ain't gonna do shit for me, I NEED STEREO! So I'm gonna return the Sono, get my $200 back, and hopefully find something of worth over there this time. I've tested out:

  • Nardis (the OG recording from Explorations) by Bill Evans Trio - which came out splendid, if not, spectacular!

  • Kush Coma by Danny Brown - the lack of a sub woofer gutted this bitch!

  • Inner City Blues by Marving Gaye - honestly I just came out angry as fuck.

  • Drunkship of Lanterns by Mars Volta - came out pretty alright

SKIPPING TO THE IMPORTANT PARTS:

For reference sake, my dungeon of a room is about 8X8X8, with a slanted ceiling from half the walls, so it's essentially a strange trapezoid like room. My twin size mattress takes up more than half of it and materials are just sporadic in the whole room, in fact shots a mess 98% of the time too, so idk if that will affect anything with the soundscape

I'm looking a speaker system that envelope the whole tiny room with clear as day music, hopefully a strong and powerful bass/Subwoofer/whatever and most importantly a non-mono speaker system (so stereo or surround if able even!). It's literally only for music, I have no interest in using it for home entertainment or anything that's not music related, I just need raw music.

I truly love how the Sono sounds but I need that bass badly and I ain't down to invest on a Sono subwoofer and another speaker for steel, I also need something that I guess is more analog, something that I can just use an aux cable instead of a dedicated app and wifi, tho the wireless feat was comfortable as an option. My budget is give or take 250 after I return this Sono Play 1
