I think she probably held some of those beliefs, though she could've exaggerated a bit. Mostly I feel like anyone who doesn't hold those beliefs understands how abhorrent the things she said are. People will do a lot for their fifteen minutes but I feel like debasing your own values for no good reason is a lot, especially when it would've been easier and better received to do almost any other act. And in saying that, I think the idea of modelling probably sounds good to a lot of people like that. It's clear from the show that there are lots of small-town traditional contestants who think the job is being a pretty woman in beautiful clothes and makeup.

In saying that, if she used them then I think they used her too. She didn't look like a model and her little tirade was the only memorable part of her audition. They likely wanted her for the drama and to have a quick moment to talk about tolerance.
