Really? Just really? Do you not see the comments in here like the ones calling the kid stupid? Read. There are people here ripping on a literal child and you're saying that I'm toxic for getting (admittedly overly) pissed about it. No, of course they didn't say the kid is stupid for wearing the helmet, but I can only assume that their motivation for being bullies is that they feel they're being pressured by OP to wear helmets, which again, they're not. A statement isn't just a statement, it's an action. If you state something rude, you're not doing it just to make an observation, you're doing it to be rude.

I'm also not talking about r/NewSkaters; I mean skate culture in general. The amount of real hatred I see for people who wear, ride, or even listen to something different is gross.
