"The Day-After Thread" - Final Takeaways and Game Discussion

The thing about Trubisky and Rudolph that has occurred to me---and I grant that I am not a professional and not a part of the game---is that both seem to qualify as guys who need some development. But, the Steelers really don't have much of a successful record of developing QBs, so we need to wonder why 2022 would be any different. Over the last two decades they've auditioned quite a few guys as back-ups or third-stringers, but who has really excelled? There's Trubisky and Rudolph, Paxton Lynch, Dwayne Haskins, Josh Dobbs, Zach Mettenberger, Landry Jones, Dennis Dixon. I didn't include Duck because he was an UDFA, and they've brought in a few of those as camp arms over the years (guys like Troy Smith, Brandon Kay, Devin Gardner). Those guys were all at least mid-round picks or higher, and guys like Lynch, Haskins, and Mettenberger couldn't even get on the field. My point is, while people did think Trubisky had some potential, and Rudolph did look bad last year against Detroit, the decision to bring in another project QB when you already had Rudolph and Haskins as projects looks pretty bad in hindsight.
