Grandfather fought on the Russian theater, but the stories I heard from his friend who lived through the Pacific theater said they had it horrible. USN ships would sink their cargo so they fought with barely any ammo or food. When shit got desperate, thats when they started to eat whatever they killed.

It's like you're painting the Japanese soldiers as some monster, but they're weren't. Most of the Japanese soldiers hated the stupid war and were doing everything they could to survive and get back to their families and loved ones.

You have to understand that these people were brainwashed into doing horrendous things. Just the US painted an image that the "Japs" were devils, monkeys and sub human.

Ive even read books about how IJA PoWs were treated like animals. How females nurses wouldn't care if a IJA PoW walked into clean the female shower room, because they only saw them as monkeys, animals. They would even throw cigarettes at their feet and would beat them if they didn't pick it up and thank them.

By no means am I trying to say the IJA/N were innocent, but when you say they were tortured more "humanely" you're very wrong.
