Decided to try Total War Kingdoms, followed by immediate deletion.

And until they make work I am willing to pay for they won't get a penny out of me. You can spend 12 hours a day shovelling shit into a mountain but I'm not paying to see that no matter how hard you worked at it.

They won't get a penny out of me, either, but that doesn't mean I'm going to stop playing a game just because someone else chooses to pay for it.

I do not like those practices, especially since they need to be pushed enough to break even.

Fair enough. I just don't care if other people spend their money on freemium games, to be honest. They aren't twisting anyone's arm, and not every freemium game is p2w, and whether or not they "know people will use that feature" is completely irrelevant.

Since they aren't gearing the game towards you they don't care if they make changes that put you off the game for good

Because games that aren't freemium never come out with shitty updates...

If a dev values money more than the consumer enough to make a lesser product in order to make more money then they will do it. Freemium games are just that. This mindset means that the game is more likely to be a poor one that just tries to get as much cash as possible out of the player.

If that's how you feel about them, that's fine, but again, that's a matter of opinion.

You said earlier that you gauge how bad something is based on the fact that I'm not willing to pay for it. So if these people are shelling out all this cash for a game, isn't it possible that they do so because they like the game enough to support it, making is a "good" game in their opinion?

You state these opinions of your like they're facts that everyone should see. If you're trying to change someone's opinion, you shouldn't start by imposing pre-conceived opinions on them. You can't lead me to premise B by simply telling me premise A is true, and is how I should feel about a game.

Large portion being the large majority, in other words, in general.

From the start, I admitted that I hate the shit some freemium games do, and I later admitted to being very cynical of phone games. Let's go ahead and straighten one thing out: I realize that most freemium games are shit, and aren't worth my time. I'm only arguing that not all of them are quite as bad as the ones you're describing.

IAPs are far more telling. If they have a gem pack worth stupid amounts of money that tells me all I need to know

So you look at the prices of optional features and form an opinion about the entire game? In other words, you're admitting to being biased. I won't judge you for that, but that's just not the way I think. If I enjoy a game, I'd need a much better reason for quitting than "they charge too much money, and they know people will pay that much".
