Deck Review #2 (Posted May 9)

Drawing Face Hunter. It's a face hunter that sacrifices burst and charge creatures for card draw and mid-game consistency. I'm 5-0 with it this month and 73.7% winrate with it over the last two months.

What I like about it: the deck shifts gears between all-out face aggro, to board control 'midrange' and back again at the drop of a hat. How you play the deck depends on what you're up against as well as what you draw, but the deck is capable of drawing a lot in 'longer' games where you're more likely to get a nice UTH/Snaketrap/Cultmaster combo off-- and then your options are wide open.

Why I'm posting it: I only play this deck when I need to complete a quest, so my sample size is fairly low. A lot of the deck came from a streamer (sorry, don't remember the name) but I've since tweaked it and I haven't played against this deck even once, so I imagine it needs a bit more exposure. I find it a pleasant alternative to the monotony of the charge-face deck.

Decks this struggles against: Control Priest and Oil Rogue have given me the most troubles. Believe it or not, I've yet to play against a tuned Combo Druid with this deck, and I suspect it may cause some troubles since it's also favored against the charge-face hunter.

Matchups that're improved by this deck: Control and Patron Warrior both become easier with this deck. The deck seems to have a positive win-rate vs both mirrors (midrange & charge-face). All other matchups are better than 50% in my experience (note: Ironbeak owl should be reserved for worst case scenarios in any matchup-- Tirion and Ancient of War come to mind).

FAQ:

Why Tracking? It adds consistency to the deck, allowing you to cheaply dig for a solution, whether that's Cultmaster, Snake Trap, UTH, Ironbeak Owl, or Kill Command.

Why only one Kill Command? I haven't felt the need for two. That much reach doesn't seem necessary when you have Tracking, a decent mid-game and card-draw.

Why two Animal Companions? Leokk is amazing in this deck! Huffer is a solid contributor, and Misha can protect your Cultmaster or Knife Juggler. That said if you want to run a second Kill Command instead of the second Animal Companion, you're welcome to try it.

Why Loatheb in a face deck? This deck doesn't mind playing a little board control and likes to hang out in the mid-game a lot more than charge-face hunter. As a result, you have to worry about Druid combo, Oil Rogue combos, etc. A well-played Loatheb relieves a lot of pressure.

Why Stranglethorn Tiger? This card is personal preference. It can be replaced by Leeroy Jenkins or Argent Commander. I chose it because of the nearly unblockable beast synergy for setting up lethal with Kill Command (lightbomb, twisted nether, deathwing... can still remove it).
