Democrats demand investigation into FBI leaks to Rudy Giuliani

I think there's a sort of underlying attitude in America that you don't understand.

We hate our government. I don't mean we're dissatisfied with it. I mean to be American is to dislike the very idea of government.

Look at the justification for the second amendment: It's so that we can kill our government if it misbehaves.

The first amendment is so that we can tell our government when they're being stupid.

The fourth amendment is so that we can tell our government to get off our lawn.

The fifth amendment is so that we can give our government the finger if they ask us questions.

and so on.

You can even see it in our language. It's not "Our Government." It's "The Government. "

At best we view our government as a necessary evil. At worst, to be American is to view our government as an obstacle or impediment to freedom.

We idolize outlaws, tricksters, criminals, and rebels of all stripes. Nobody in the US worships the king or the tyrant or the law man.

So bearing that in mind, is it any wonder we have a candidate in the running whose supporters actively want to destroy the government?

It's in our nature.
