Desperate DWP’s last minute appeal against revealing benefit-related deaths

it doesn't work like that.

if you kill yourself because of this, you may die at ANY time, not necessarily immediately afterwards; but the link may not be apparent from the outsides. thus even after a decent investigation into a suicide (which is unlikely, the police and the courts are both shite) it may not be mentioned.

think about it~ suddenly you have no money. you get into debt and owe those around you money; humiliated, desperate, depressed and ashamed, you might kill yourself 5 months later. the DWP would be the cause, but would not be mentioned by the judge, who may just state 'got into debt'.

people struggle on for months or years after trauma, then sometimes give up, or will get to the straw-that-broke-the-camel's-back point where a broken tea cup or something will just tip them over the edge.

i totally agree a single event like this can easily be catastrophic and push someone into death. but suicide triggers and deaths don't happen within a timeframe as you suggest. so any suicide notes mentioning this are the merest tip of the iceberg; because most of the time, people say 'I'm so sorry, i don't mean to hurt you, but i can't cope any longer' but they don't say why.

suicide inquests are a fucking joke, believe me. no one cares. its just a farce. even if they do make recommendations, no one listens, nothing changes.

every single one of those people, these stats, was a living person, who is now dead, thanks to politicians.

on the upside, suicides amongst those who lost a loved one to suicide are REALLY common, so in may ways its two-for-one offer a lot of the time. IDS must be fucking rubbing his hands with glee.
