Did any of you guys fantasise about owning your first home months or even years before you got it?

I'm kind of the opposite. I'm a reluctant homeowner because I absolutely despise so many aspects of home ownership.

I hate mowing the lawn, I hate trimming hedges, I hate it when my water heater blows, I hate it when the new development a block away blows out the sewers and it floods my basement, I hate the alcoholic neighbor who goes on a rampage and stabs everyone's tires, I hate that old lunatic who thinks she owns part of street and will start a feud over who gets to park there, I hate plumbing, I hate it when my plum tree gets fireblight, I hate how much money I spend at home depot.

But I really enjoy renovating. So despite my loathing for most things home ownership I really enjoy a good canvas. The house we bought recently was basically a time capsule that hadn't been updated since the 80s. I hate the listing but when we toured it I instantly fell in love.

Then covid hit so I'm basically a pig in shit. I have a garage full of studs, drywall, paint, pressure treated wood, hardware, etc.
