Why did the original xbox outsold the gamecube?

I don't know why you think cinematics are "all the things" Halo did. Halo featured a real step forward in physics modeling, especially in regard to vehicles. It featured a full-fledged cinematic score. It didn't just have cut scenes; it had 45 minutes of them. It had a 2-weapon limit. It borrowed story elements from Alien and Ringworld, and other science fiction classics, to make for an engaging story. It continued Bungie's excellent in writing artificial intelligence with life.

Man I don't want to get into this argument, but can we just take a moment to appreciate that the guy you're responding to thinks "quake had everything halo had"? Quake, the game whose cinematics consisted of 5 seconds of a space marine telegragging Shub-Niggurath. The Quake that had literally the same story as Doom. The Quake whose campaign was the same kill monster/push switch/find exit formula as Doom. Down to multiple episodes, and roughly parallel function weapons.

Like holy crap, Quake was in every way but artistic and technological a beautiful disaster (emphasis on beautiful, the campaign was still a blast). It was a freaking monument to id's inability to successfully innovate the FPS campaign: just look at the original plan for it vs what we got.

Calling troll. Claiming Duke 3D "had the features of Halo" was good, but claiming Quake did was hilarious.
